Bring In The Bold

We are seeing a shift away from all white, and into into bold splashes of bright colors either in touches of wallpaper, tiles, or in furniture. These touches are the newest trend in 2023 and are making a splash on social media. In the newest issue of Elle Décor, they dive deep into boldness their Change Issue. “There was this choreography that we envisioned from the beginning” the article states, which is exactly how a Larsen home comes to fruition. It takes the eye of our residential and interiors teams to help guide our clients visions for their homes. It’s only then that we get the perfect merriment of a gold and white backsplash tile with white cabinets and a gold metal hood in a kitchen. Or the perfect hybrid of materials to maximize the wow factor in a child’s bedroom. Bold furniture can transform a room and give it an elevated look. “Shaking things up can be hard, but always feels good” the article says, these homeowners “dared to take risks, and they’re glad they did”.

While white kitchens may never fully age, it is important to add in touches of color throughout the home to bring it into 2023. “White is a very challenging color. It’s always that white is too green, that white is too pink, and so on,” interior designer Darryl Carter says. Picking the right white to match with pops of color is very important. When we were working primarily with Agreeable Gray from Sherwin Williams in years past, we knew what our go to white would be, but now we need to be aware of what the other materials are before we pick a white to go with it, especially when working with wood warm accents.

Because every home we build is a presold custom home, we get to layer styles together. “When you take the philosophy and methods of construction from varying styles and put them together, you come up with something really new and very personal,” Venice-based designer Stephanie Luk says. This is the philosophy at Larsen, and because of it, we often design outside of the lines. Every neighborhood we build in has it’s own culture, and incorporating color and boldness looks different for each client. Over the years we have prided ourselves building our clients homes that are not only functional, but perfect in design for them. Boldness can be interpreted many different ways. We can’t wait to find out what your interpretation is!
